WHAT IMPACT HAS PRIME/CROSSFIT HAD ON YOUR LIFE BOTH IN AND OUT OF THE GYM?

Outside the gym, I’ve always been a social creature (as many can attest to here) so having a new group of people and friends to connect with inside and outside the gym is right in my wheelhouse. I feel like I'm making different life choices than I used to as well, choices that center around going to the gym vs. going to happy hour, which is kinda bizarre for me.

Inside the gym, I see the gains, as Ryan Morris likes says “lean gains,” as my reps and weights track higher and higher, that’s incredibly motivating for me (and I think for most people too) to see statistical progress, not just in the mirror. Speaking of mirrors, the nature of watching your body improve physically over time is addicting, so that’s great to see the impact of your work there too.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT PRIME OR CROSSFIT IN GENERAL?

Before joining Crossfit two years ago, I heard mixed things. Across the board, from injury prone workouts to cult-level intensity, but as most people at Prime understand, there’s none of that here. The environment that Ant and all the coaches have created at Prime makes it really enjoyable. Plus I’ve developed relationships with most people here, so it’s something I look forward to going to classes hoping to workout with/against friends.

IF YOU COULD BE IN THE MOVIE OF YOUR CHOICE, WHAT MOVIE WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHAT CHARACTER WOULD YOU PLAY?

Honestly, if I could figure out a way to have been Han Solo, that’d be it. I would have just asked Lucas for a scene with a lightsaber… So maybe I’d end up a young post-prequel Obi-Wan, it’s a tough choice… A 12 year old Nick Bruno would have done anything to be a dinosaur in Jurassic Park, and part of me would want to carry out the dream for him, plus with motion capture nowadays I could be a great Velociraptor.

YOU CAN GO TO ANY CONCERT OF ANY ARTIST (DEAD OR ALIVE) WHICH ONE WOULD YOU GO TO? WHY?

Besides Drake at the gym, I don’t think there really is anyone that impacts me that much musically, I’m not a big concert type person either. If Chance the Rapper and Donald Glover did a tiny desk/house show for us, I’d be down.

TELL US SOMETHING WE DON'T ALREADY KNOW ABOUT YOU?

I’m 99% sure I’ve told everyone who warms up around me everything about me. I often refer to myself as Batman to people who don’t have my number in large group texts. I briefly had my own Wikipedia page. I gave a high-five to Ben Stiller outside Penn Station. My little brother in Detroit started up CrossFit after we kicked his butt at Prime workout last year. I love pickles and pickling all forms of pickle-able foods. Some people don’t know Meredith and I are engaged, probably because she ignores me in class and doesn’t wear her ring to the gym so she can “do pull-ups.”

WHAT DOES A DAY IN THE LIFE OF NICK LOOK LIKE OUTSIDE OF BEING A STUD CROSSFITTER?

Who isn’t a creature of habit at 32 years old? I’m an adult; I wake-up; walk my big floppy mutt Rye down Campbell Ave; if I’m not traveling around US & Germany, convincing companies to relocate/expand in Utica, then I’m at MV EDGE crushing my 2 egg, sweet potato & kale breakfast, working that 9-5 desk job; gym at 5:30, home by 6:45, cater to Meredith’s every whim, have dinner, drink some nice whiskey depending on how exhausting the gym was, then bed before 10/11PM.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD/SHARE?

I’ve always said my senior year of high school playing lacrosse I was in the best shape of my life (before my separated shoulder, torn ankle ligament and finger surgery, and the beer weigh set in), but at 32 I’m in the best shape of my life, winning Utica Frisbee awards, landing mega deals at work, being featured in the Prime Hall of Internet Fame, I’m honestly living my best life and that’s pretty amazing to be able to say. So thanks to Ant & the Prime Family for literally shaping me into what & who I am today, and mostly thanks to my darling Meredith for dragging my skeptical butt into Crossfit in the first place.
