WHAT IMPACT HAS PRIME / CROSSFIT HAD ON YOUR LIFE BOTH IN AND OUT OF THE GYM?

This year will mark five straight calendar years of drinking less alcohol each year, which might not have happened without Prime. CrossFitting is more fun and there’s nothing left to accomplish with alcohol at this point anyway. Morning class attendance helps too.

I have no lingering pain or injuries. Credit to the thorough warm up and movement reviews from Anthony and Tyler.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT PRIME OR CROSSFIT IN GENERAL?

Prime specifically: philosophically I’m in line with Anthony on almost everything: role of exercise in life, subjects of interest, sense of humor, etc. In turn that extends to the other coaches and members. The place has a sort of casual intensity I enjoy.

CrossFit in general: releasing endorphins. I think I release a lot more than other people, which explains why I like exercising so much more than commoners do. CrossFit also provides the catharsis of lifting, grunting, and dropping weights, which can’t be done in a globo gym.

WHAT IS AN UNUSUAL HABIT YOU HAVE?

Cold showers are probably my only unusual habit. It wakes me up and cold water is supposed to be better for your hair and skin. My complexion is excellent so it’s probably true.

IF YOU WERE A FRUIT, WHAT FRUIT WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?

I’m about to go bananas in the weight room again starting August 14.

IF THERE WAS A MOVIE BEING MADE ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHO WOULD PLAY YOU AND WHY?

Gosling for sure. Other movie stars might be shy about doing all the shirtless scenes playing me would require, but Gosling has proven he’s not afraid to take his shirt off on screen. I have more skeletal muscle mass than him so he’d have to bulk up for the role. He could print some pictures of me for his home gym if he needs motivation.

WHAT DOES A DAY IN THE LIFE OF RYAN LOOK LIKE OUTSIDE OF BEING A STUD CROSSFITTER?

Read, write, banter, and think for sixteen hours a day.
