HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AT PRIME AND WHAT GOT YOU STARTED?

I’m a boomerang PRIMER. Started back at the old gym and took a break in between having our daughter. Seeing how much my husband has loved this gym and how disciplined he’s been motivated me to give it a go again. Really glad I did.

WHAT IMPACT HAS PRIME HAD ON YOUR LIFE BOTH IN AND OUT OF THE GYM?

The biggest impact on my life that PRIME has made is my overall strength gain. Both physically and mentally. My hope one day is for our kids to look back and see their momma as tough, strong, + eager to learn new things. I believe PRIME's impact has overall, positively influenced our family.

THE ONE TIP YOU’D GIVE SOMEONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT STARTING CROSSFIT OR JUST STARTED?

Show up. 90% of the hardest thing to do is to --- just show up. The work flows after. The weightlifting and other exercises can be very intimating if you are new to this type of program, but like most things in life, it gets easier along the way. Building the classes into your daily/weekly routine makes you miss the work when you haven't shown up in while. Consistency is key.

WHAT ARE ONE TO THREE BOOKS THAT HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?

Wild, by Cheryl Strayed. Loved this story of a women's quest to trek the PCT solo after hitting rock bottom. Really good book about finding strength in yourself no matter what life has dealt you and persevering.

The Tipping Point, by Malcolm Gladwell. I read this in my capstone class, senior year of college and have stayed an avid fan of Gladwell's work. He explores marketing and business ideas outside of the traditional sense. This book helped me understand product/idea/'really whatever' demand as it relates to its threshold of greatness.

IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A DESERTED ISLAND, AND COULD ONLY CHOOSE ONE FOOD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Taj Mahal’s (New Hartford!) chicken curry with onion naan.

WHAT DOES A DAY IN THE LIFE OF KELLY LOOK LIKE OUTSIDE OF BEING AN AWESOME CROSSFITTER?

Mom + Marketing Managing. After getting the kids out the door each morning, I am typically catching up on emails, skyping with my content team, and in/out of GoTo meetings Monday - Friday. I transitioned this past year to a new company, which allows me to work from home with a team spread across the globe. I've built a standing 'placeholder' on my calendar, so that I can get to PRIME most days. It’s a demanding role, but I love it - feel challenged - and still feel that I have much more control over my work schedule. Family dinner and kid practice/activities most nights each week. I've learned that where I’m paying attention and putting my energy is either hurting/improving my future. Have ‘Marie Kondo’ed’ my life in many ways outside of the tidying up part.
